Maureen Murphy

Research Scientist, Global Women's Institute at George Washington University

Maureen Murphy is a Research Scientist with the Global Women’s Institute (GWI) at the George Washington University where her primary research focus is on violence against women and girls in conflict and post-conflict settings. Prior to joining GWI, she worked with numerous humanitarian aid agencies, including in South Sudan with the American Refugee Committee and in Sierra Leone with GOAL Ireland. In addition, she worked with the Child Protection in Crisis Network, based at Columbia University, to coordinate locally driven child protection and GBV research projects in Africa and Asia. Maureen holds a Master’s in Public Health from Columbia University where she focused on gender-based violence and reproductive health topics in complex emergencies. She is currently a Doctor of Public Health (DrPH) candidate in Global Health at the Milken Institute School of Public Health at the George Washington University.
