Where the need is greatest, Save the Children provides water, by truck, for free. The focus is always to try to develop a sustainable, permanent water supply.||

ABOUT THE EVENT

;

The 2021 WASH Gap Analysis report identified a number of ‘gaps’ in the global WASH humanitarian response. The new report presented as part of this satellite event explores how innovation may help address one of the most highlighted gaps by both people affected by crisis and practitioners - Solid Waste Disposal. The research behind the report was conducted in Rwamwanja Refugee Settlement, Uganda and Doolow IDP Camp, Somalia. It outlines the problems, causes and impacts of poor solid waste disposal in these settings and five innovation opportunities that could tackle them. This event will share the report’s findings through a short presentation, then challenge participants to interrogate the findings.

Questions discussed

  • Are these findings representative of your own context and experience?
  • Which innovation opportunity do you think has the most potential for impact?
  • What role would sectoral and inter-sectoral coordination play in working on this opportunity?
