We are looking to recruit a Research Manager for our new Non-Communicable Disease programme.
In this role you will have the opportunity to deliver a groundbreaking research project that documents and promotes innovative, locally developed approaches to Cardio-Metabolic Disease (CMD) prevention and care in humanitarian crises. You will manage the project from inception to delivery, engaging with research partners, humanitarian stakeholders, and internal teams to ensure that findings drive real change in policy, practice, and future investment. Beyond research management, you'll contribute to Elrha's strategic direction on NCDs in crises, representing our work at key events and supporting broader programme activities.
Your application will need to demonstrate:
- Experience of commissioning and managing research projects in partnership with research institutions, particularly in humanitarian or crisis-affected settings. Strong background in developing, convening, and leading workshops, events, and working groups, ideally focused on NCD prevention and care.
- An understanding of NCD public health programme approaches, global standards, and guidance, as well as the linkages between research, policy, and practice in humanitarian settings. Familiarity with key humanitarian health stakeholders, including UN agencies, operational organisations, and coordination mechanisms at country, regional, and global levels.
- Excellent project management skills, including the ability to plan, prioritise, and deliver high-quality research outputs under tight deadlines. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences, present in professional forums, and build collaborative relationships across sectors.
- Proven ability to synthesise complex research findings into accessible, high-impact outputs, such as policy briefs and reports, tailored for different stakeholders. Track record of securing funding, engaging with donors, and contributing to strategic initiatives that advance NCD prevention and care in crises.
- An interest in the humanitarian or development sectors, ideally demonstrated through academic qualifications and/or paid or voluntary work.
Experience of health innovation principles and practice would also be an advantage.

- Remote working as standard – staff can access office bases in London, Cardiff, Edinburgh and Manchester if required/ appropriate. We expect staff to attend team meetings and away days in person as required.
- As standard we work 35 hours per week. We are also happy to discuss flexible working patterns and many of our staff work non-standard working hours.
